Work
Weekly update template for teams and stakeholders
Keep people informed without calling a meeting. This template starts with a status of on track, at risk or blocked and a one-sentence headline, then covers completed work, a table of next week’s priorities with owners and due dates, blockers with a clear request, and numbers to watch.

When to use it
Send it at the same time every week, to your manager, your client or a wider group that follows the project. Readers want to know three things quickly: is it going well, what is coming, and do you need anything from them. The blockers section is built for that last question, with the issue, its impact and who can help.
What is inside
- An at-a-glance section with a status label and one sentence on the week’s most important change.
- A completed list and a next week table with priority, owner and due date columns.
- A blockers section split into issue, impact and request, followed by numbers to watch.
Tips for a better document
- State each completed item as a result with its effect, not as an activity. “Shipped the export, support tickets fell by a third” tells the reader why it mattered.
- Track the same few metrics every week so readers can compare. The Clean style keeps the update to one page, which is about as much as people read.
