Terms of service
These are the rules for using MDPress. They are short on purpose. Please read them, because using the site means you agree to them.

Agreeing to these terms
By using MDPress, with or without an account, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you use MDPress on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it. You need to be old enough to enter into an agreement like this where you live, and the service is not directed at children under 13. These terms cover the hosted website. A copy of the software that you run yourself is covered by its license instead.
What the service does
MDPress is a web application that converts Markdown into PDF files. You write or paste Markdown in the editor, choose a style, page format and optional extras such as a cover page, a table of contents or a signature, and download the result. The preview runs in your browser and the PDF is built on our server. We may add, change or remove features over time. We try not to break things that people rely on, but the service is still evolving and we cannot promise that any particular feature will stay exactly as it is today.
Accounts
You can convert documents without an account. Creating a free account raises your daily allowance, and an account is required for a subscription. Accounts are provided through Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your sign in details safe and for what happens under your account. Please use accurate information and keep to one account per person. Tell us through the contact page if you think someone else has used your account. We may suspend or close accounts that are used to get around the limits or to break these terms.
Free and paid plans
MDPress gives you a limited number of free PDFs each day, counted over a rolling 24 hour window. Signing in with a free account gives you a slightly higher allowance. A low monthly subscription removes the limit and the ads. The current allowance and price are shown on the site before you pay. Payments are handled by Stripe, and the subscription renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in your dashboard, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
Acceptable use
Use MDPress for your own documents and in a way that is fair to everyone else. Do not try to get around the free allowance, for example by automating requests, rotating addresses or tampering with the signals used to count PDFs. Do not attack, overload, probe or scrape the service, and do not use it to produce or distribute material that is unlawful, that infringes someone else’s rights, or that is designed to deceive or harm people. We may block requests, limit use or close accounts when we see this kind of behaviour.
Your content
Everything you write and every PDF you make is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no right to reuse it. You give us permission to process your Markdown for one purpose only, which is building the PDF you asked for. The text is not stored on our servers once the PDF has been built. You are responsible for what you convert, including having the right to use any text, images, logos or signatures in it. Because drafts are kept only in your browser, please keep your own copies of anything important.
Availability
We work to keep MDPress running, fast and correct, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. The site can be offline for maintenance, because of a fault at one of our providers, or for reasons outside our control. A conversion can fail or take longer than expected, and very large documents are refused. We may change, pause or stop the service. If we ever plan to close it for good, we will try to give paying subscribers reasonable notice first.
No warranty and limits of liability
MDPress is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. Always check a PDF before you rely on it, especially for contracts, invoices or anything else where a formatting mistake matters. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect losses that result from using the service or from not being able to use it. If we are found liable for something, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights that the law says cannot be removed.
Software license and your documents
The MDPress source code is free software, released under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3, also written as AGPL-3.0. You may run it, study it, change it and share your changes under that license. If you offer a modified copy as a service over a network, the license asks you to make your source available to its users. That license applies to the software only. It does not apply to your documents. You keep all rights to the Markdown you write and to the PDFs you create with MDPress.
Ending your use
You can stop using MDPress at any time. To cancel a subscription, use the billing portal in your dashboard. To have an account removed, write to us through the contact page. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms, abuses the service or puts it at risk for others. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and explain why. The sections on your content, liability and the software license continue to apply after your use of the service ends.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops or when the law requires it. The current version is always the one published on this page. When a change is significant, for example a change to how the plans work, we will point it out on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using MDPress after an update, the new terms apply to you. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the service and cancel any subscription before it renews.
Contact
Questions about these terms are welcome. Write to us using the address on the contact page and tell us which section your question is about. The same address works for reporting misuse of the service, for billing problems and for requests to close an account. We read every message and aim to reply within a few working days. If something in these terms is unclear, please tell us, because we would rather fix the wording than leave you guessing about what it means.
