Status report template with summary, progress and risks
A status report tells busy readers where a project stands in under a minute. This template opens with a short summary, follows with a table of areas and their status, and closes with a quoted risk and its mitigation. It exports as a PDF you can attach to an email.

When to use it
Send a status report weekly or every two weeks while a project is running, and before any steering meeting. Managers, clients and sponsors read it, and most of them stop after the summary. That is why the summary sits at the top and says plainly whether you are on track, with the detail below for anyone who wants it.
What is inside
- A summary section of two short sentences: overall state first, biggest risk second.
- A progress table with one row per work area and a status such as done, in review or started.
- A risks section written as a quote block, with the mitigation stated next to the risk.
Tips for a better document
- Use the same status words every week. Readers compare reports, and a change from “in review” to “done” should mean something.
- The default Editorial style gives the report a more formal, printed look. Add a cover page if it goes to a client or a board.
