AI chat to PDF

ChatGPT to PDF, with the formatting intact

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini write their answers in Markdown. Printing the chat window gives you a cropped page full of buttons and sidebars. Copy the answer instead, paste it into MDPress and download a PDF where the headings, lists, tables, code blocks and formulas look the way they did in the chat.

Save a ChatGPT answer as PDF in three steps.

  1. 01

    Copy the answer

    Click the copy icon under the reply in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. It puts the Markdown source on your clipboard. Selecting the text with the mouse can drop the table and code markup, so use the button.

  2. 02

    Paste it into the editor

    Paste into the MDPress editor and the preview shows the finished page straight away. Delete the chatty opening line, fix a heading, or paste several answers one after another to build a longer document.

  3. 03

    Pick a style and download

    Choose Clean, Editorial or Technical, then A4, A5 or US Letter. Download the PDF. The file has selectable text and no watermark, so you can search it, quote from it and send it on.

A typical AI answer, ready to convert.

This is what lands on your clipboard when you copy a reply, and it converts as it is.

## How to debounce a search input

Debouncing waits until the user stops typing before it runs the search. It helps in three ways:

- Fewer requests to your API
- No flicker from out-of-date results
- Lower load on slow devices

| Approach | Fires | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Debounce | After typing pauses | Search boxes |
| Throttle | At a fixed interval | Scroll handlers |

```js
function debounce(fn, delay = 300) {
  let timer;
  return (...args) => {
    clearTimeout(timer);
    timer = setTimeout(() => fn(...args), delay);
  };
}
```

Why paste the answer instead of printing the chat.

The structure survives

A reply is more than paragraphs. Headings stay headings, numbered steps stay numbered, comparison tables keep their grid and code blocks keep their highlighting and indentation. Nothing turns into a screenshot, so every word in the PDF can still be selected.

Only the answer, none of the interface

The browser print dialog captures the prompt box, the sidebar and whatever fits on screen, and often cuts a long reply short. Here the page holds the text you pasted and nothing else, laid out on real pages with margins.

Your chat is not kept

You do not connect an AI account or sign in to anything. The pasted text goes to the server once to build the PDF and is then discarded. The draft itself stays in your browser until you clear it.

Tips for cleaner AI documents.

  • Some assistants copy math wrapped in backslash brackets, such as \( and \[. MDPress reads dollar signs, so change those markers to $ for inline formulas and to $$ on their own lines for display formulas.
  • To keep a whole conversation, paste each answer in order, add your own questions as headings, and put \newpage on its own line wherever a new page should start.
  • Pictures and file attachments from the chat do not come along with the copied text. Upload an image with the Images tool if the document needs it.

ChatGPT to PDF questions.

How do I save a ChatGPT conversation as a PDF?
Copy each reply with the copy icon under it and paste the replies into MDPress in order. Add headings for your own questions if you want them in the file, then download. A document can be up to 4 MB, which is far more than a long chat.
Does it work with Claude, Gemini and other assistants?
Yes. Any assistant that answers in Markdown works the same way, and that covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and most others. Use the copy button on the reply, paste, and the headings, tables, code and math are read as GitHub-flavoured Markdown.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
You can make four PDFs every 24 hours without an account and five with a free account. If you convert answers all day, a small monthly fee removes the limit. None of the plans add a watermark to the file.

Turn the answer into a document.

Copy the reply, paste it into the converter and download the PDF. Four a day are free and there is nothing to install.
