API documentation template in Markdown
Good API documentation lets a developer make a first successful request in minutes. This template lays out one endpoint from start to finish, so you can copy the pattern for the rest: overview, authentication, parameters, an example request, response fields, errors and a support contact.

When to use it
Reach for this when a partner, client or internal team needs a reference they can read offline, attach to a contract or keep with a release. Your readers are developers who will copy from the page, so the PDF keeps its text selectable and the code examples keep their formatting.
What is inside
- Overview and authentication sections, with fill-in fields for project, maintainer, date and support email.
- An endpoint entry with a parameter table showing type, required flag and description, plus a curl example.
- A response fields table and an errors table listing status, meaning and the action to take.
Tips for a better document
- Use placeholder tokens in every example and never a real key. Label the language on each code block so MDPress can apply syntax highlighting.
- Once you document more than a few endpoints, turn on the contents page with page numbers so readers can jump straight to the one they need.
